Q: Why does the Institute prefer the use of the word “healing” rather than treatment, therapy or counseling?

A: Words such as the aforementioned suggest there is something wrong with a person. Clinicians accustomed to such labels are oriented in the mind set and belief in sickness hence, seeking for pathology (disorder/s). The person being seen for “treatment” also believes he/she is “sick.” Is that the case? Not necessarily so. For example, if you go back to your Clinical Bio Chemistry class you will remember that simple deficiency in manganese most time manifest in what could be diagnosed as “mental illness.” Another example, because a person tells a clinician that he/she was visited by his/her diseased mother many times in the resent weeks may not mean this person is sick (suffering from auditory hallucination)  as would suggest by the Western Psychiatry.  At International Institute for Wellness and Integrated Healing, our clinicians assess our client’s healing needs from all dimensions, including cross-cultural perspectives on wellness and illness. We understand the relationship between words, thoughts, thinking, beliefs and the manifestation of the end product/s in our client’s life particularly, in healing process. We are well vast in the anatomy of mind, thoughts and thinking. We understand that what your mind bought and believes you also become. If you seek wellness needs and your healing clinician perceives you as being sick, he/s will approach you from that perspective. We are not in the healing business of sabotaging you healing process before you even get started.
